LYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. —
Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team opened with a 293 on Sunday during the first round of play at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational to stand in a tie for fifth place.
The Cowboys’ 13-over tally tied them with Florida State and has them two shots behind Duke for fourth place. Arkansas opened with a 283 to lead by five at the par-70, 7,080-yard layout.
Northwestern’s Nicholas Losole was the only player in the field to break par on the day and grabbed a two-shot advantage after firing a 2-under 68.
Playing in his first collegiate event, OSU freshman Wyndham Clark posted a 72 to finish the day tied for ninth place.
Sophomore Patrick Winther was a shot back with a 73, tying him for 20th place. Also among the group at 3-over par was freshman Jordan Niebrugge.
Senior Sean Einhaus posted a 75 to stand in a tie for 38th, while sophomore Tanner Kesterson carded a 76 to come in tied for 46th.
The Cowboys will begin their second round at 8:40 a.m. Monday and will be grouped with Duke and Florida State. Live scoring for the event is available at golfstat.com.
