STILLWATER, Okla. —
Stillwater’s school district is feeling the same budget burden the rest of us carry, from the family kitchen to the corporate boardroom – goals, plans, obligations and dwindling money to follow through.
Board of Education members are facing a tough task and are to be commended for their civic commitment as they weigh the hard choices.
Counting dollars and dimes is never easy as costs increase and the money to pay the bills decreases.
Sometimes in evaluating the big picture, the little view can get lost. In this case it easily could be the little people entrusted to our school system for their education.
Two reasons to cut from the top – fewer cuts equal bigger savings and reduced administration keeps teachers in classrooms.
No question strong leadership is critical in trying times. But the money we have needs to be distributed in ways that cause the least disruption in the education process.
