STILLWATER, Okla. —
A soldier with Stillwater ties has died in Afghanistan.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Our thanks, as Independence Day draws near, go to Army Spc. Jared Plunk, 26, who grew up in the Oklahoma Panhandle and gave his life for his country.
Our thanks go to all the Jared Plunks who have stood tall for America and its people at a time when duty called.
No matter individuals’ stances on war in general and the United States’ wars in particular, our collective support and appreciation must be behind these men and women who take our place on the front lines so that we can picnic in freedom at home this Fourth of July.
