STILLWATER, Okla. —
Downtown Stillwater gets its ice skating rink back this winter.
The novelty attraction brought in not only skaters last year but holiday shoppers with tax revenue to boost city coffers. It’s no surprise the Chamber of Commerce polled a resounding yes when asking the community whether last year’s rink should have an encore.
Some skaters last year, though, learned ice skating isn’t as easy at it looks at Rockefeller Center in every Christmas movie ever filmed in New York. You slip. You fall. Sometimes you get hurt.
Common sense has a place in ice skating just as it does in every other undertaking. Be careful. Be cautious. Be courteous.
Downtown Stillwater came to life last Christmas season with skaters who stayed around to shop and snack and enjoy the many amenities of our city. We welcome them back this year. Good move, chamber board.
October already. Can Christmas be far away?
