— •Whitney Brown White, former student at Stillwater High School, recently received the President’s Distinguished Scholar Award during commencement at Pueblo Community College in Pueblo, Colo.

After becoming a mother at  16 and dealing with a serious medical issue, White earned her GED, enrolled in college and graduated with a 4.0 GPA and an Associate of Science degree.

White served as an office in Phi Theta Kappa and graduated Summa cum laude. During graduation, she led the procession of 468 graduates.

White has been married for three years and is a freshman at Colorado State University. She is majoring in the medical field and maintains a 4.0 GPA.

White is the daughter of Robbin Brown Patterson and Tim Brown of Colo., and granddaughter of Ken and Jill Beck.

Paula Denise Major of Ripley graduated from Oklahoma Panhandle State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing on May 12. Major is the daughter of Eric and Sandra Skach of Victoria, Texas. She and her husband ,Michael, live in Ripley.



Cadet Captain Martin Theriault of the Stillwater Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol received his Solo Wings at the National Flight Academy held in Shawnee.

Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer, non-profit organization. The Stillwater Composite Squadron meets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Stillwater Regional Airport.
