QUICK FIVE: Wednesday workshop focuses on grants

STILLWATER, Okla. — Stacy DeLano, Stillwater adult services librarian and Nonprofit Resource Center trainer will help host “Show Me the Money: Sniff Out Piles of Money Right Under Your Nose!” as part of its Go for the Gold workshop series. The workshop is free from noon to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday in room 214 in the Stillwater Public Library, 1107 S. Duck.

1 What is the Nonprofit Resource Center?

The Nonprofit Resource Center includes a set of grant searching databases provided by the Stillwater Community Endowment Fund and Stillwater Cares. With this free service, nonprofit organizations can do very targeted and effective searching for potential grants from over 120,000 grant sources. It also teaches people how to write grant proposals, communicate with grantmakers, run a non-profit and much more.

2 What can one expect to learn at Workshop Wednesday?

Participants will get a brief overview of how the Nonprofit Resource Center databases work, how they can easily get additional training and why they should come in to use this service given the other resources available to them. I will also be getting input on the types of grant oriented classes they would like offered at the library and giving information on how the library can provide training at their organizations.

3 Who will be speaking or offering information at the workshop?

Quinn Schipper, executive director of Stillwater CARES, Inc., begins each of the Wednesday Workshops, and then I will  provide information about the grant finding databases.

4 Who may benefit from the workshop?

For this particular program, any nonprofit organization will want to learn how to use these databases to find grant money, though the databases do assist others, such as students looking for scholarships.

5 How can one access grant websites through the library?

The databases are available for use inside the Stillwater Public Library on our Internet terminals, catalog computers or when you connect to our Wi-fi. We are one of only five Oklahoma organizations who have this resource.
