STILLWATER, Okla. — The Love Run, a charity poker run benefits the Center of Family Love. The run stretches from Okarche to Oklahoma City. Two of this year’s stops are in Stillwater. Lisa McConnell discusses Saturday’s event.
1 The Love Run will start at Center of Family Love in Okarche. Why is that?
It is a really fun opportunity for people to support our mission. It gives them a chance to see where we are, who we are and the residents they're supporting.
2 Why was the ride re-routed this year to include Forman Harley-Davidson?
Every year we try to change up the stops, keep it interesting. We were going to do Lucille’s in Mulhall, but there's a bridge out. We had to do some last minute rethinking.
3 Why was Cowboy Travel Plaza selected as a stop this year?
One reason is because of the location. We try to keep it about 120 miles or so. We always think about places with good amount of parking. We've got about 100 riders.
4 What will each stop entail?
At every stop there's two volunteers stationed there with two decks of cards. Each person will draw a card for their hand. At the very last stop, we look at their hands. The worst and best hands get a cash prize.
5 What else is new this year on the Love Run?
We're doing a funny photo contest. Along the route people will take funny photos of where they're at. The funniest three that we pick will win tickets to Frontier City or White Water.
