Q5: Busy summer slated for art gallery

STILLWATER, Okla. — Postal Plaza Gallery Director Victoria Berry reflects on the last six months since the gallery opened and talks about upcoming exhibits in June, with an opportunity to meet one of the artists June 19.

1 How receptive has the community been so far to visiting the gallery and its events since opening six months ago?

We have experienced very encouraging attendance. We hope with our nine new exhibitions planned for this year there will be something interesting to keep our visitors coming back.

2 What is one unique thing about having the Postal Plaza Gallery in Stillwater compared to galleries in larger cities?

We are free, open six days a week and we offer community-centered programming during the summer months in our Malinda Berry Fischer Gallery.

3 What is a favorite art piece or collection in the museum or one exhibit to come that you are excited about?

We are excited to unveil Framing History: Selections from the Oklahoma State Senate Collection on July 7. More than 14 Oklahoma artists’ works that hang in our State Capitol will be on exhibit. A great show.

4 What is the next exhibition to be featured at the gallery?

Our opening receptions for Belinda Chlouber – Words and Paint: A Collaboration with Family Writings on June 19 and Watercolor Paintings by Althea Wright on July 10.

5 What’s happening at the next Late Thursday?

We are hosting an opening reception with Belinda Chlouber on June 19 from 5-7 p.m. Artist Talk begins at 6 p.m.
