Church Women United aid ministry

Stillwater Church Women United celebrated Dedication Day at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 4, 2009, at Highland Park United Methodist Church.

The invocation was given by Rev. Derrek Belase, pastor of Highland Park UMC, Judy Lewis, Stillwater Church Women United president, gave the welcome address and Juanita Moe, First United Methodist Church UMW president, gave a devotion called “The Attitude of Christ”, said Jeanette Johnson.

Stillwater CWU presented donated food for The Storehouse Ministry to Rev. Steve Roach, director of Stillwater Storehouse Ministry.

“Due to the economic situation, there is an increase in clients' food needs...We feed about 72 families per week. In 2008, there were 762 families served. So far from January through June of 2009 we have helped meet the food needs of 1,380 clients at the Storehouse. Our ministry is guided by the spirit of the Lord,” said Roach.

The Harvest II Food Drive will occur later in the fall.

“We only do what Jesus called us to…Serve the least, the lost and the last,” said Roach.
