Sessions introduce Quaker culture

The Stillwater monthly meeting of the Society of Friends (Quakers) will host Quaker Quest sessions this fall. Quaker Quest is a series of informational presentations and discussions designed to introduce a Quaker outlook on various issues of interest and importance to life today. The sessions are open to the public.

On Oct. 13, Bruce Crauder, William Decker and Sandra Williams will speak about the place of pacifism in Quaker belief and practice.

On Sept. 23 and Oct. 20, Anne Collins, Elizabeth Grubgeld and Jan Michael will explore the religious roots of the Quaker understanding of equality, including equality for persons of different ages, races, genders, sexual orientations and abilities. On Sept. 30 and Oct. 27, Suzanne McAlister, Mike Palmer and Doug Stevenson will address the Quaker challenge to live with simplicity as a religious practice that cares for ourselves as well as for the Earth and others.

Sessions will include ample time for discussion and conversation, and refreshments will be served. There will be a period of worship following the presentations and discussions.

The Quaker Quests will take place in the Unitarian Universalist Church, 320 S. Stallard Street. Each session will start at 7 p.m. and run for approximately two hours. It is not necessary to attend all sessions or to attend in a particular order.

Childcare will be available. For more information, visit StillwaterFriendsMeeting.org or email StillwaterQuakers@yahoo.com.
