Local women pray for children and school in worldwide event

On Nov. 14, Moms in Touch International will host a local gathering for “Arise! Cry out!” a worldwide prayer event that invites Christian women to pray together and celebrate 25 years of praying for children and schools, said Moms in Touch host site facilitator Mary Herrman.

Women in the community are invited to attend the event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Countryside Baptist Church, 2124 S. Western Road.

The time of prayer will be facilitated by a DVD created from the Moms in Touch event in San Diego Oct. 9 and 10 this year.

The DVD features Fern Nichols, the founder and president of Moms in Touch International, Pastor Miles McPherson of Miles Ahead Ministries and pastor of the 3,500-seat Rock Church in San Diego as well as the worship team Crimson Bridge.

Herrman said this is the first time Moms in Touch has done a worldwide day of prayer and says that over 80 countries and around 1,000 different groups worldwide including five small local groups will participate.

“We’ve never done a prayer event where the women of Stillwater have been asked to come and be united in prayer. Every church in the community is welcome to send any women who want to pray,” Hermman said.

She added that if anyone can come even for one hour, they’re welcome to do so.

To help with the local Arise! Cry out! event, contact Mary Herrmann at or 372-3444. Childcare is available for those who request it by Nov. 8.
