Senior Center News 08-11-13

Stillwater NewsPress

— The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center, 1015 E. 12th Ave., is a cool way to beat the heat. The center offers a variety of activities for seniors, 50 and older, to choose from including card games such as duplicate and social bridge, canasta, pitch, Texas Hold’em, and various others games like dominoes.

Practice your shots on the pool and snooker tables or get creative sharing ideas in the painting and craft group. Win prizes playing bingo and enjoy musical tunes every Thursday during music night. A jigsaw puzzle table is always set up with a puzzle to solve.

Get some exercise in a class or on your own using the center’s exercise equipment including a treadmill, weight set and exercise bike. Wii interactive games, line dancing and pingpong can get you moving, too.

A coed pool tournament is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday. More women are encouraged to stop by and join the friendly competition with the men.

Stop by to pick up an August calendar of events. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday for music night. If you are interested in joining a social or duplicate bridge group, then call 405-747-8080 or leave your name and number with a staff member.

Champions for competitive games last week included social bridge winners, Norma Burk, first, and Marge Reynolds, second. Duplicate bridge winning partners were Lionel Raff and Al Perry, first, and Meg Klecke and Lisa Mandini, second. The Texas Hold’em champion was Lula Mae Davis.
