— The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will provide a neck and shoulder massage opportunity by licensed massage therapist Paul Hirsch at 1 p.m. Wednesday. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The center will be closed Thursday and Friday for floor maintenance. Seniors, 50 and older, are welcome to join any center activities.  Hours are: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up an October calendar of events. If you are interested in joining a social or duplicate bridge group at the center, please call the number given to receive information on how to join.

Monday:  Mornings are busy with women’s pool playing and a painting class. These begin at 9:30 a.m. Bring your pool stick or use one from the center and enjoy some fun competition. The oil/acrylic painters bring their own supplies and exchange creative ideas with each other. Afternoon activities start around 1 p.m. including bridge, canasta, pool, snooker, dominoes, and puzzle solving.

Tuesday:  Come get toned up by joining the free “Sit ‘n Be Fit” exercise class offered every Tuesday and Thursday morning at the center. Chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are executed while sitting and some are performed while standing by your chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights and stretch bands are incorporated into the exercises for an extensive workout. After exercise, some of the participants stay and practice line dancing steps for fun. You are welcome to come kick up your heels with them around 10:30 a.m. Wii games and pingpong are always available for a fun time, too. Afternoon activities include games such as duplicate bridge, Texas Hold’em, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs visits Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance. No appointment is needed.

Wednesday: The women get out their pool sticks again for some fun practice starting at 9:30 a.m. A Wii interactive game set and a pingpong table are also available for use. Exercise equipment which includes a treadmill, exercise bikes, and a weight machine are also available. Afternoon games begin around 1 p.m. including canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out waiting for someone to find a piece. A movie made in Stillwater, “Cowgirls and Angels,” will be shown at 2 p.m. This is a long anticipated movie, so come check it out because it should be a good one.
