Senior center hosting activities

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center offers many fun activities to keep seniors, 50 and older, busy having a good time. Don’t sit at home. Come socialize and make new friends. Card games of various kinds, pool and snooker, movies, painting, bingo and exercising are among the many activities to participate in. On Friday at noon, the August potluck birthday luncheon will be held. Bring a food dish to share or pay $3/person. Make sure to pick up an August calendar of events.

Monday: Women’s pool and painting class, 9:30 a.m. Afternoon activities start at 1 p.m. and include bridge, canasta, dominoes, pool and snooker.

Tuesday: Sit ‘n Be Fit, 9:30 a.m. Line dancing, 10:30 a.m. Wii and ping pong are available. Afternoon activities include duplicate bridge, Texas Hold’em, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veterans Affairs is available from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Wednesday: Women’s pool, Wii games, ping pong, 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment is available. Afternoon games begin at 1 p.m. and include canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool, snooker and puzzles. “Love’s Everlasting Courage” will be shown at 2 p.m.

Thursday: Sit ‘n Be Fit, 9:30 a.m. Wii Fit, 10:30 a.m. Afternoon activities include canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pitch, pool, snooker and puzzle solving. Bingo, 2 p.m. Music night, 6 p.m. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m.

 Friday: Women’s pool, painting, 9:30 a.m.  Exercise equipment, Wii games and ping pong also available. At noon the potluck birthday lunch will take place. Bring a food dish and enjoy a delicious meal with your friends. Afternoon games include canasta, pool, snooker, pitch, dominoes and puzzles.

Last week’s bridge winners were Penny Sizemore, first, and Jane Anderson, second. Other bridge winners were Shirley Crockett, first, and Lew Taylor, second.

Duplicate bridge winning partners were Camille Johnston and Terry Miller, first, and Norma Burk and Lew Taylor, second.

Texas Hold’em winners of the week were Chestine Crane and Maxine Morgan. Jack Ventris won the men’s pool tournament.

Stillwater Senior Center, 1015 E. 12th Ave., 747-8080, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday for music night.

    The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold a defensive driving class, Vehicle Accident Prevention, sponsored by Meridian Technology Center. This class could get you a discount on your vehicle insurance, so check it out with your insurance provider.
    The class will take place Wednesday from 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. An hour lunch break will be taken. Call or stop by to sign up.
