The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold a January birthday luncheon at noon Friday. Bring a potluck food dish or pay $3 per person and join the festivities. The center offers many fun activities to keep participants, age 50-and-over, busy. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday for music night.
Starting in February, trained volunteer income tax preparers will return to the center to figure income taxes, free. Their first day will be Feb. 4 and run through April 15, Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Monday: The morning starts the week off with women’s eight-ball pool time and a painting class. Bring your pool stick or use one of the centers and enjoy the fun competition. Bring painting supplies and join the class for creative ideas. All the fun starts at 9:30 a.m. Afternoon activities start around 1 p.m. including bridge, canasta, pool, snooker, dominoes and puzzle solving.
Tuesday: Time to work off those extra pounds that accumulated over the holidays. Check out the free “Sit ‘n Be Fit” exercise class held every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 to about 10:15 a.m. Afterward, stay and practice some boot scootin’ line dancing or Wi games. Also, a pingpong table is available for use. In the afternoon, there is a choice of games that include canasta, duplicate bridge, dominoes, pitch, puzzle solving, snooker or pool. A Veteran’s Affairs representative comes in on Tuesdays from 1 to 2:45 p.m. to help with any questions or paper work you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance. No appointment is needed.
Wednesday: The women pool players warm up their pool sticks again at 9:30 a.m. A Wii interactive game set and a pingpong table are also available for use. Afternoon games begin around 1 p.m. which including canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool and snooker. The movie, “Trouble With the Curve,” will be shown at 2 p.m.
Thursday: The “Sit ‘n Be Fit” exercise class meets again at 9:30 a.m. After class, you can play some Wii games or pingpong. At 1 p.m. afternoon games such as canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pool, snooker and puzzle solving get started. At 2 p.m., bingo is called Thursday evening, the doors open back up at 5:30 p.m. for a night of music.
Friday: The women pool players and the painting group come in at 9:30 a.m. The January birthday potluck luncheon will begin at noon. Bring a food dish to share. Stay after lunch and play some games of cards, pool, snooker, Texas Hold’em, dominoes and puzzle solving
Last week’s bridge groups did not meet due to the holiday. The Texas Hold’em group did meet and the champion for the week was Allen Shields. A men’s pool tournament was held and the winner was Larry Leonard.
