Senior Center Watch 11-25-12

The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will offer free neck and shoulder massages from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday. Stop by 1015 E. 12th and make sure to pick up a November calendar of events or call 405-747-8080 for more information on activities offered. If interested in joining a social or duplicate bridge group, ask for information on how to join. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and Thursdays, 6 to 8:30 p.m. for music night.

Monday: Popular morning activities start at 9:30 a.m., including women’s pool and a painting class. Come join the women for 8-ball or bring painting supplies and get creative. Afternoon activities start around 1 p.m.

Tuesday: A free “Sit ‘n Be Fit” exercise class starts at 9:30 a.m. Chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are completed while sitting and some are executed standing by the chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights and stretch bands are incorporated into the exercises for an extensive workout. After exercise, some of the participants stay and practice line dancing steps for fun. Kick up your heels around 10:30 a.m. Wii games and pingpong are always available for a fun time, too. Afternoon activities include games such as duplicate bridge, dominoes, canasta, pitch, puzzle solving, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veterans Affairs visits 1 to 2:45 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork pertaining to veteran’s assistance. No appointment is needed.

Wednesday: The women rack up the pool balls again Wednesday at  9:30 a.m. A Wii interactive game set and a pingpong table are also available for use. Exercise equipment which includes a treadmill, exercise bikes and a weight machine are available, also. Afternoon games begin around 1 p.m. including canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool and snooker.  The drama, “The Lucky One,” will be shown at 2 p.m.

Thursday: Time to start that exercise plan and get ready for the holidays. A good start would be the “Sit ‘n Be Fit” exercise class meeting every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Afterward, play some Wii games or pingpong. A group of line dancers sometimes stay and have a good time stepping in time to the music. At 1 p.m. afternoon games such as canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pool, snooker and puzzle solving, get started. At 2 p.m. bingo is called. Thursday evening, the doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a night of music. The musicians set up to start some good ol’ country tunes at 6 p.m. Come tap your toes with everybody!

Friday: Pool is played starting at 9:30 a.m. by the women pool players. The painting group gets out paints and brushes to share ideas with each other. During the afternoon, enjoy games of cards, pool, snooker, Texas Hold’em, dominoes and puzzle solving. A men’s pool tournament will also be held at 1 p.m.

Last week’s winners of bridge were JW Thomas, first, and Louie Geiser, second. Duplicate bridge winning partners were Lucy Robinson and Penny Sizemore, first; and Terry Miller and Lew Taylor, second. Texas Hold’em champion for the week was Allen Shields. Frank Berry won the men’s pool tournament.
