No appointments are needed.

Tax help is offered through a first come first serve basis.

Bring last year’s tax return if possible and all other necessary information and identification.

A men’s pool tournament is scheduled at 1 p.m. Thursday.

The center offers many activities for seniors 50 and over.

You can participate in card games, exercise class, art activities, pool and snooker, bingo, line dancing, Wii games, exercise equipment, movies and a music night.

Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. to pick up a calendar of events. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday for music night.

Remember, with the weather changes coming, if the Stillwater Public Schools are closed then the Senior Activity Center will also be closed.

Winners for competitive games last week include social bridge champions Penny Sizemore, first, and Norma Burk, second.

Duplicate bridge winning partners were Lucy Robinson and Penny Sizemore, first, and Murna Raff and Seham El Sharif, second.

Wii bowling has gotten popular again and winners were reported as Evelyn Smith, highest scorer, and Dennis Morrow, next highest scorer.

More highlights for the week are:

Monday: Women pool players and a painting group arrive after the doors open at 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment includes a treadmill, two exercise bikes and a weight set available for use. The afternoon brings out bridge and canasta players, along with pool shooters.

Tuesday: A free exercise class “Sit ‘n Be Fit” starts at 9:30 a.m. The class offers a low impact, 45-minute workout which helps strengthen your muscles. Some movements are completed while sitting and others are executed while standing next to a chair utilizing hand weights, stretch bands and bouncing balls. Afterward, stay and practice some boot scootin’ line dancing. This will get you a really good workout! In the afternoon, games include canasta, duplicate bridge, dominoes, pitch, pool/snooker and jig-saw puzzle solving.

Wednesday: Women pool players get together again at 9:30 a.m. for some friendly and fun competition. Wii games are played on Wednesday morning with the tax preparers busily working up tax returns. In the afternoon, games of canasta, Texas Hold’em, pool and snooker are played. An afternoon movie starts at 2 p.m. The movie for this week is a dramatic action film based on true events, entitled, “Captain Phillips,” starring Tom Hanks.

Thursday: Get in shape by joining the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class, offered at 9:30 a.m. The class will provide a good stretching and toning for your body. If you would like some more exercise, stay after class and join the line dancing group that meets at 10:30 a.m. They really get to moving and can work up a sweat while having fun. In the afternoon, get in a game of canasta, dominoes, pool or snooker. At 2 p.m. a wild game of bingo takes place. Everyone is a winner. A men’s pool tournament will also be held at 1 p.m.

Friday: Pool playing skills are practiced again by the women starting at 9:30 a.m. The painters will be at it again, too. Bring your painting supplies and get creative. Exercise equipment is also available for use. At noon, the birthday potluck luncheon will begin. Following the luncheon, games of canasta, Texas Hold’em and pool/snooker will be played.
