Senior Center Watch 06-23-13

The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center offers a place to get out of the heat and enjoy the many activities offered to seniors, 50 and older,  such as card games, pool and snooker, exercise classes, social and duplicate bridge, Texas Hold ‘em, canasta, pitch, dominoes, bingo, movies, Wii interactive games, line dancing, painting class, pingpong and musical entertainment.

Exercise equipment including a treadmill, weight set and exercise bike are available. A jigsaw puzzle table is always set up with a puzzle to solve.

Registration is open for a defensive driving class to be offered 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 16. Some insurance providers offer discounts if clients enroll in defensive driving classes.  Check with an insurance agent to determine if the defensive driving class qualifies for a payment reduction.

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, a group of women practice pool.

Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise classes continue on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with line dancing afterward.

On Tuesday afternoon, a Veteran’s Affairs representative visits from 1-2:25 p.m. to help with paper work assistance. No appointment is necessary.

The movie at 2 p.m. Wednesday will be “Won’t Back Down.”

Stop by to pick up a June calendar of events. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and  6-8:30 p.m. Thursday for a night of live country music.

If you are interested in joining a social or duplicate bridge group, then call 405-747-8080 or leave your name and number with a staff member.

During gaming action last week, social bridge winners were Jean Herndon, first, and Sue McMillan, second. Winners of duplicate bridge were partners Al Perry and Lionel Raff, first, and Meg Kletke and Gay Lynn Bullock, second. Texas Hold’em champions were Chestine Crane and Alan Shields.
