Senior Center Watch 12-23-12

City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will be closed Tuesday for Christmas. The Center offers many fun activities to keep participants, age 50-and-over, busy. Stop by 1015 E. 12th and make sure to pick up a December calendar of events. Call 405-747-8080 if you are interested in joining a social or duplicate bridge group or for more information on other activities offered. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday for music night. The center will close Jan. 1 for New Years.

Monday: The center will be open. Women’s pool time will take place along with the painting group getting together at 9:30 a.m. Afternoon activities start around 1:00 p.m. including bridge, canasta, pool, snooker, dominoes, and puzzle solving.

Tuesday: The center is closed.

Wednesday: Regular hours resume. The women pool players warm up their pool sticks again at 9:30 a.m. A Wii interactive game set, pingpong table, treadmill, weight machine and exercise bikes are available. Afternoon games begin around 1 p.m. including canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out waiting for someone to find a piece. The movie, “Brave,” will be shown at 2 p.m.

Thursday: Work off those extra holiday calories at 9:30 a.m. with the “Sit ‘n Be Fit” exercise class. Afterward, you can play some Wii games or pingpong. A group of line dancers sometimes stay and have a good time stepping in time to the music. At 1 p.m. afternoon games such as canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pool, snooker and puzzle solving get started. At 2 p.m. bingo is called. A lot of laughs are always shared during this time. Don’t miss out on the good times. Thursday evening, the doors open back up at 5:30 p.m. for a night of music. The musicians get tuned up and start some good ol’ country tunes at 6 p.m.

Friday: The women pool players and the painting group meet up again starting at 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment is available for use, along with a pingpong table or Wii player. During the afternoon, enjoy games of cards, pool, snooker, Texas Hold’em, dominoes, and puzzle solving. A men’s pool tournament will be held at 1 p.m. Come join the competition.

Last week’s winners of bridge were Orlean Hunter, first, and Wally Reynolds, second. Duplicate bridge winning partners were Lionel Raff and Al Perry, first; and Betty Abenante and Seham El-Sharif, second. Texas Hold’em champion for the week was Betty Shields. Larry Leonard was the winner of the coed pool tournament.
