Senior Center Watch 08-18-13

Stillwater NewsPress

—  The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center, 1015 E. 12th Ave., offers a variety of activities for seniors, 50 and older, to choose from including card games such as duplicate and social bridge, canasta, pitch, Texas Hold’em, and various others games like dominoes. Practice your shots on the pool and snooker tables or get creative sharing ideas in the painting and craft group. Artists bring their own supplies to the center and work together on their projects. The women’s pool group is looking for more players to join the fun.

Win prizes playing bingo and enjoy musical tunes every Thursday during music night. A jigsaw puzzle table is always set up with a puzzle to solve.

Get some exercise in a class or on your own using the center’s exercise equipment including a treadmill, weight set and exercise bike. Test your endurance in the free Sit ‘n be Fit class every Tuesday and Thursday morning. Wii interactive games, line dancing and pingpong can get you moving, too.

A Veterans Affairs representative visits 1-2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays to help with paperwork. No appointment is needed.

At 2 p.m. Wednesday, the center will show the movie “The Last Ride.”

Stop by to pick up an August calendar of events. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and  5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday for music night. If you are interested in joining a social or duplicate bridge group, then call 405-747-8080 or leave your name and number with a staff member.

Champions for competitive games last week included social bridge winners Wally Reynolds, first, and Norma Burk, second.

Duplicate bridge winning partners were Lionel Raff and Al Perry, first, and Meg Klecke and Terry Miller, second. The Texas Hold’em champion was Lula Mae Davis.
