Senior Center Watch 08-19-12

The Stillwater Senior Activity Center wants you to take advantage of the facility and all the fun activities it offers to seniors, 50 and older. Come see what there is to participate in while socializing and making new friends.

Monday: Women’s pool and painting class, 9:30 a.m. Afternoon activities start at 1 p.m. and include bridge, canasta, dominoes, pool and snooker.

Tuesday: Sit ‘n Be Fit, 9:30 a.m. Line dancing, 10:30 a.m.  Wii games and ping pong are available. Afternoon activities include duplicate bridge, Texas Hold’em, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzles, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veteran Affairs is available from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Wednesday: Women’s pool, Wii games, ping pong, 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment is available. Afternoon games begin at 1 p.m. “Red Tails” will be shown at 2 p.m.

Thursday: Sit ‘n Be Fit, 9:30 a.m. Wii Fit, 10:30 a.m. Afternoon activities include canasta, social bridge, pitch, pool, snooker and puzzles. Bingo, 2 p.m. Music night, 6 p.m. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m.

Friday: Women’s pool, painting, 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment, Wii games and ping pong also available. Afternoon games include canasta, pool, snooker, pitch, dominoes and puzzles.

Last week’s bridge winners were Penny Sizemore, first, and J.W. Thomas, second. Other bridge winners were Orlean Hunter, first, and Cloyann Fent, second.

Duplicate bridge winning partners were Betty Abenante, Murna Raff, Al Perry and Lionel Raff, all tied for first. Camille Johnston and Terry Miller were second.

Texas Hold'em winners of the week were Dollie McClary and Betty Shields. Larry Leonard was the champion of the men's in-house pool tournament held last week.

If you want to join a bridge group, social or duplicate, please call the center to receive information on how to join.

Stillwater Senior Center, 1015 E. 12th Ave., 747-8080, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday night for music night. The facility is closed on the weekends.
