Blood pressure clinic held at Senior Activity Center

The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold a blood pressure clinic sponsored by May’s Home Call Home Health at 1 p.m. Tuesday. No appointments are needed.

The center also offers many activities for seniors 50 and over.

Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information.

Make sure to pick up an April calendar of events when you stop by.

Hours are Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday 6-8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends.

Monday: The women pool players compete in 8-ball every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. You can bring your pool stick or use one from the center. An art class also comes in during the same time. They bring their own supplies and help each other with ideas as needed. Exercise equipment that includes a treadmill, two exercise bikes and a weight set are available. The afternoon brings out bridge, canasta players and pool shooters.

Tuesday: Check out the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise program. The center provides this class every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. It offers a low impact, 45-minute workout that helps strengthen and tone up your muscles. Some exercises are done while sitting and others are done while standing next to your chair utilizing hand weights, stretch bands and bouncing balls. Stay and practice some boot scootin’ line dancing. This will get you a really good workout! In the afternoon, games include canasta, duplicate bridge, dominoes, pitch, pool/snooker and jigsaw puzzle solving.

Wednesday: The women pool players practice their shots again beginning at 9:30 a.m. Wii bowling is played on Wednesday morning at the same time. In the afternoon games of canasta, Texas Hold’em, pool and snooker are played along with a 2 p.m. movie. The movie for this week is the classic Disney movie “Mary Poppins.”

Thursday: The free exercise class called Sit ‘n Be Fit offered at the center at 9:30 a.m. can help you test your endurance and strengthen your muscles. If you would like some more exercise, stay after class and join the line dancing group that meets at 10:30 a.m. In the afternoon, get in a game of canasta, dominoes, pool or snooker. A men’s pool tournament will be held at 1 p.m. At 2 p.m. a game of bingo takes place.

Friday: Popular Friday morning activities are women’s pool playing and painting in the art class. These begin at 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment is also available for use. Afternoon games begin around 1 p.m. and consist of canasta, Texas Hold’em, and pool or snooker.

Barbara Geiser won first in social bridge and Dollie McClary was second.  Duplicate bridge winners were Terry Miller and Camille Johnston. Betty Lowrey and Jane Anderson came in second. Evelyn Smith had a score of 265 in Wii bowling and Dennis Morrow came in second with a 222.
