— The Stillwater Senior Activity Center is a warm place to come enjoy activities such as card games, dominoes, pool or snooker, movies, exercise classes and equipment, and even music. Everyone is welcome, age 50 and over. Stop by 1015 E. 12th and pick up a January calendar of events. Call 405-747-8080 if you are interested in joining a social or duplicate bridge group or for more information about any activities at the center.

Starting in February, trained AARP volunteer income tax preparers return to the center to help figure income taxes, free of charge, from Feb. 4  to April 15. No appointments are necessary; it is a first come first serve basis from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Bring last year’s return if possible and all other necessary information and identification.

Monday: Women’s 8-ball pool and a painting class start the morning off at 9:30. Bring your pool stick or use one at the center and enjoy the fun competition. In the painting class, creative ideas are shared — just bring your painting supplies to work on a project. There is exercise equipment that includes a treadmill, weight set and a bicycle. Afternoon activities start around 1 p.m. including bridge, canasta, pool, snooker, dominoes, and puzzle solving.

Tuesday: Check out the free “Sit ‘n Be Fit” exercise class held every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9:30 to about 10:15 a.m. Some exercises are executed sitting and some are completed while standing by your chair. Hand weights, stretch bands, and bouncing balls are all utilized during the 45 minute workout. Afterwards, stay and practice some boot scootin’ line dancing or Wii games. A pingpong table is available for use, too. In the afternoon, there is a choice of games including canasta, duplicate bridge, dominoes, pitch, puzzle solving, snooker or pool. A Veterans Affairs representative comes in 1 to 2:45 p.m. to help with any questions or paper work you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance. No appointment is needed.

Wednesday: Pool balls are dropping in the pockets again starting at 9:30 a.m. A Wii interactive game set and a pingpong table are also available for use. Exercise equipment is available, too. Afternoon games begin around 1 p.m. including canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out waiting for someone to find a piece. The high action movie, “Premium Rush,” will be shown at 2 p.m.

Thursday: Limber up with the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class at 9:30 a.m. After class, you can play some Wii games or pingpong. A group of line dancers sometimes stay and have a good time stepping in time to the music. At 1 p.m., afternoon games such as canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pool, snooker and puzzle solving get started. At 2 p.m. bingo is called. A lot of laughs are always shared during this time. Don’t miss out on the good times. Thursday evening, the doors open back up at 5:30 p.m. for a night of music. The musicians tune up and start some good ol’ country tunes at 6 p.m. Come tap your toes with everybody!

Friday: The women pool players and the painting group come in at 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment is available for use, along with a pingpong table or Wii player. Check out the afternoon games of cards, pool, snooker, Texas Hold’em, dominoes and puzzle solving.

Bridge groups did not meet Dec. 31 to Jan. 4 due to the holiday. The Texas Hold’em group did meet with Betty Shields winning the championship.
