Stillwater NewsPress

—  The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center is a cool place to spend the summer time. Seniors, 50 and older, can join in several activities such as card games, pool and snooker, exercise classes, social and duplicate bridge, Texas Hold ‘em, canasta, pitch, dominoes, bingo, movies, Wii interactive games, line dancing, painting class, pingpong and musical entertainment.

Exercise equipment including a treadmill, weight set and exercise bike are available.

Try out the free Sit 'n Be Fit exercise class offered at the center. This class is  scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The exercises are low impact. Some movements are completed while sitting and other motions are executed by standing next to   a chair utilizing hand weights, stretch bands and bouncing balls during the 45-minute workout. Afterward, stay and practice some boot scootin' line dancing or Wii games.

A jigsaw puzzle table is always set up with a puzzle to solve.

Various groups meet to perfect and enjoy skills such as pool playing and painting where ideas are shared.

Stop by to pick up a July calendar of events. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and  5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday for music night.

If you are interested in joining a social or duplicate bridge group, then call 405-747-8080 or leave your name and number with a staff member.

Champions for competitive games last week included social bridge winners Mallory Owen, first, and Barbara Geiser, second.
