Senior Center Watch 07-14-13

The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center has a few spaces open in the free defensive driving class offered by Meridian Technology Center from 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. Some insurance providers offer discounts if clients enroll in defensive driving classes. Check with vehicle insurance agents to determine if the Meridian Technology Center defensive driving class qualifies for a payment reduction.

Seniors, 50 and older, can join in other activities such as card games, pool and snooker, exercise classes, social and duplicate bridge, Texas Hold ‘em, canasta, pitch, dominoes, bingo, movies, Wii interactive games, line dancing, painting class, pingpong and musical entertainment.

Exercise equipment including a treadmill, weight set and exercise bike are available. A jigsaw puzzle table is always set up with a puzzle to solve.

Stop by to pick up a July calendar of events. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and  6-8:30 p.m. Thursday for music night. If you are interested in joining a social or duplicate bridge group, then call 405-747-8080 or leave your name and number with a staff member.

Last week’s winners of competitive games included social bridge players Mallory Owen, first, and Carolyn Wilson, second. Duplicate bridge winners were partners Lionel Raff and Murna Raff, first, and Lew Taylor and Jane Anderson, second.

2 p.m. Movie: “Quartet

           Thursday

9:30 a.m. Sit ‘n Be Fit

10:15 a.m. Line dancing

               and Wii games

1 p.m. Men’s pool

2 p.m. Bingo

5:30 p.m. Doors re-open

               for music night

6 p.m. Country music

           band begins

    The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold a defensive driving class, Vehicle Accident Prevention, sponsored by Meridian Technology Center. This class could get you a discount on your vehicle insurance, so check it out with your insurance provider.
    The class will take place Wednesday from 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. An hour lunch break will be taken. Call or stop by to sign up.
