Senior Center Watch 08-25-13

— The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center is the place to go to have a fun time. Many activities are available for seniors, 50 and older. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Monday: The women pool players have a lively time Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings starting at 9:30 a.m. Also, a painting group meets at the same time. The afternoon crowd enjoys playing various games of bridge, dominoes, and pool/snooker.

Tuesday: If you would like to get some exercise, check out the free exercise class, called Sit ‘n Be Fit. This class is offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday. In the afternoon, games include canasta and jigsaw puzzle solving. A Veteran’s Affairs representative comes from 1-2:45 p.m. No appointment is needed.

Wednesday: Women start shooting pool at 9:30 a.m. The action movie, “Mud,” will be shown at 2 p.m.

Thursday: Sit ‘n Be Fit meets for a workout from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Afternoon games begin around 1 p.m.  The doors reopen at 5:30 for a night of country music from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Friday: Pool sticks are drawn again as the women take aim at the cue ball.

Champions for various games held last week were social bridge winners Norma Burk, first; and Wally Reynolds, second. Duplicate bridge winning partners were Lionel Raff and Al Perry, first; and Penny Sizemore and Lucy Robinson, second. Texas Hold’em champions for the past week were Jean Hatcher and Chestine Crane. Jim Stormont won the men’s pool tournament.
