Senior Center Watch 09-02-12

Stillwater Senior Activity Center closed Monday for Labor Day

 The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.

On Friday, the senior pool players will challenge the Ponca City senior pool players in a tournament at 9:30 a.m. This is always a fun tournament, so come be a part of the fun.

Monday: Center is closed for Labor Day.

Tuesday:  Sit ‘n Be Fit, 9:30 a.m. Line dancing, 10:30 a.m.  Wii games and ping pong are available. Afternoon activities include duplicate bridge, Texas Hold’em, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veteran Affairs is available from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Wednesday: Women’s pool, Wii games, ping pong, 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment is available. Afternoon games begin at 1 p.m. and include canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, puzzles, pool and snooker. “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” will be shown at 2 p.m.

Thursday: Sit ‘n Be Fit, 9:30 a.m. Wii Fit, 10:30 a.m. Afternoon activities include canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pitch, pool, snooker and puzzles. Bingo, 2 p.m. Music night, 6 p.m. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m.

Friday: The Stillwater versus Ponca City pool tournament will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Come participate or be cheerleader, it is a lot of fun! Painting, 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment, Wii games and ping pong also available. Afternoon games include canasta, pool, snooker, pitch, dominoes and puzzles. Men’s pool tournament, 1 p.m.

Last week’s winners of bridge were Penny Sizemore, first, and Jane Anderson, second. Other bridge winners were Linda Jamison, first, and Pauline Poe, second. Duplicate bridge winning partners were Al Perry and Lionel Raff, first, and Betty Abenante and Murna Raff were second.

Texas Hold'em winners of the week were Allen Shields and Lula Mae Davis. Frank Berry won the men’s 9 ball pool tournament.

If you are interested in joining a bridge group, social or duplicate, please call the center to receive information on how to join. Stop by to pick up a September calendar of events.

Stillwater Senior Center, 1015 E. 12th Ave., 747-8080, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday night for music night.

The facility is closed on the weekends.

  • Senior Center Watch 07-05-14

    The city of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold a defensive driving class, Vehicle Accident Prevention, sponsored by Meridian Technology Center. This class could get you a discount on your vehicle insurance, so check it out with your insurance provider.
    The class will take place Wednesday from 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. An hour lunch break will be taken. Call or stop by to sign up.
