STILLWATER, Okla. — The Stillwater Lady Pioneers have spent the past few weeks earning some hardware at a couple of different regular-season basketball tournaments.
They hope that will lead to some hardware when it counts in March.
The Lady Pioneers closed out the Jenks/Union Invitational on Saturday with a 55-35 win over Southwest Missouri Lady in the seventh-place game.
On the boys side, the Pioneers came up short against Booker T. Washington in the third place game, falling 59-47.

Two weeks ago the Lady Pioneers (5-10) won the championship of the Bristow Invitational. This week Stillwater went 1-2 in the rugged Jenks/Union Invitational.
“For us to get a win in this tournament is a positive,” Stillwater coach Carl Treat said. “This is a tough tournament ... five of the eight teams are ranked. A win here gives us confidence going into a stretch of playing quite a few games at home now.”
The Lady Pioneers led from the start, building leads of 18-8 after one quarter and 27-18 at the half. Leading by 8 points after three quarters, SHS outscored Southwest Missouri 18-6 in the final quarter to pull away.
Stillwater junior Emma Gade scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Lady Pioneers. Gade hit two 3-pointers in the game and was 7 of 8 from the free throw line.
Allison Smith added 11 points and Ashby Wieligman hit two 3-pointers to score 8 points.
As a team, the Lady Pioneers made 16 of 17 free throws after struggling from the line earlier this season.
Stillwater remains on the road on Tuesday, traveling to Sand Springs for a 6:30 p.m. game. After Tuesday, the Lady Pioneers will have five of their remaining seven games at home.
