BLACKWELL, Okla. —
Coming off their second wrestling tournament win of the season the Stillwater Pioneers continued their momentum with a 53-6 dual victory over Blackwell Tuesday.
“The kids wrestled well,” coach Doug Chesbro said. “We beat two people that beat us in the Perry Tournament. At 182, Jordan Dieringer won by fall over (Sam Schuermann). Pete Pickens at 160 beat his opponent. That was a big deal for us.”
Dieringer lost in the finals to Schuermann at the Perry Tournament of Champions Saturday. Pickens was eliminated by Brian Moran in the consolation bracket. The only losses for Stillwater were at 113 and 285 — both by decisions. Chesbro said his team is doing well in scoring points.
“You can’t beat (getting falls),” Chesbro said. “You pick up two or three of those and a couple other wins, it can turn into a landslide pretty quick.”
The Pioneers travel to Kansas City on Friday for the Kansas City Stampede Tournament.
