LAWRENCE, Kan. — Oklahoma State University's football game against the University of Kansas is in lightning delay delay.
The game was suspended with 44 seconds left in the first quarter and the game scoreless.
For OSU, redshirt freshman quarterback J.W. Walsh made his second straight start this season, while injured starting quarterback Wes Lunt was suited up and participated in pregame warmups.
Walsh is 8 for 11 with 53 yards passing on two drives, while Joseph Randle — a Wichita, Kan., native who was recruited by KU — has six carries for 21 yards. For Kansas, quarterback Dayne Crist has completed 4 for his 6 pass attempts for 55 yards.
According to NCAA rules, the game will resume 30 minutes after the last lightning strike is observed.
It's the second consecutive year an Oklahoma State University football game has been delayed by lightning. In September 2011, the Cowboys waited out a three-hour rain/lightning delay in Tulsa. The game started just before midnight, and the Cowboys beat Tulsa 59-33.
