BIXBY, Okla. —
A year ago, the Stillwater High School boys basketball team beat Springdale, Ark., to win the Bixby Tournament.
Saturday, Springdale got its revenge with a 64-50 win over the Pioneers in the third-place game.
“They were the better team, not much to it,” Stillwater coach Michael Davis said.
Rico Thompson led the Pioneers (3-2) with 17 points, while Carson Teel tacked on 12 points. Jared Dickey also scored 7 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the loss.
“We didn’t shoot well,” Davis said. “We were 2 of 11 from 3 and 4 of 11 from the free-throw line. ... We’re young and we’re still trying to work out some things on defense, as well.”
The Pioneers will face Lawton Eisenhower Friday.
