NORMAN, Okla. — For the first time this season, an Oklahoma State team sustained a loss to Oklahoma when the Cowgirls basketball team fell 80-71 in Bedlam on Saturday.
Sharane Campbell scored 20 points, while Jelena Cerina chipped in a career-high 16 to help Oklahoma (15-6, 7-3 Big 12) pull away late.
“You have to give OU a lot of credit,” Oklahoma State coach Jim Littell said. “They were difficult to guard and executed well. I though (Jelena) Cerina played extremely well. When you have a player like that score 16 on you, it makes it difficult to win.”
Tiffany Bias and Liz Donohoe both tallied 20 points for the Cowgirls (12-7, 4-6 ), while Jordan Schultz scored a career-high 11.
“Our margin for error is so small on the road, we can’t allow someone to hit way above their average,” Littell said. “But the real difference came at the free-throw line. We can’t send someone to the line 25-plus times and expect to win.”
