ENID, Okla. —
One pitch can often mean the difference between a win and a loss — something the Stillwater High School softball team learned the hard way against its archnemisis Enid in a 3-0 loss Monday.
After giving up a home run to start the second inning, Stillwater (5-12, 3-9 in district) committed two errors as the Pacers (12-17, 4-8 in district) scored all three of its runs in the second to defeat the Lady Pioneers.
“We gave up a home run and had a couple of errors,” Stillwater coach Amber Davis said. “We made one bad pitch and it cost us.”
Stillwater only had one hit by Laikyn Anderson as the offense struggled against Ally Lewis.
Taylor Lane took the loss for Stillwater, which will face Midwest City on Senior Night at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
“We have a big night,” Davis said. “We just have to keep our emotions in check. Fortunately, having a game right after does help us forget about this one and move on to the next one.”
