Former Oklahoma State star Page inspires local kids through camp

STILLWATER, Okla. — A lot of children attend basketball camps at various high schools throughout the summer. However, not many of those camps are taught by one of the best 3-point shooters in Oklahoma State University history.

Monday through Wednesday, children in the Morrison area will have that opportunity as they will attend the second annual Keiton Page Skills Camp at the Morrison Event Center.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Brady Page, Keiton’s brother who also assists at the camp. “The camp goes from 9 a.m. to noon. Campers get to learn from someone who’s played in the Big 12.”

The Morrison camp isn’t the only camp Keiton Page has put on this year. Earlier this summer, he had a camp in Woodward and Bartlesville. Brady Page said Keiton likes coming to Morrison because it’s close to where he played college and high school basketball.

“It’s close to Stillwater and Pawnee,” Brady Page said. “Kids around the area know who he is from watching him play in high school and college or on TV.”

The camp is $100 per camper. Brady Page said it’s definitely a good value considering the instructor.

“You get three days of fundamentals instruction from a former Big 12 player,” Page said. “At the end of camp you get a T-shirt.”

Campers will execute drills on shooting, passing and dribbling. Brady Page said despite Keiton’s successful basketball past, the camp is geared for kids to have fun.

“Kids as young as second grade are participating,” Brady Page said. “There’s going to be work on a lot of fundamentals. Keiton will focus a lot on shooting skills since he was a good shooter. It’s a camp for kids to just get better at certain skills.”

The camp will have concessions available. There will be a silent auction with Oklahoma State University memorabilia. Keiton Page is the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the OSU men’s basketball team.
