STILLWATER, Okla. — After dissecting Saturday's scrimmage, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy noticed something that may be a surprise for many - considering the loss of the top two wide receivers from last year.

"Really, it was just what we saw - the offense was really effective. What was as impressive as anything that nobody noticed until the next day was I believe we had 51 receptions and no drops," Gundy said. "I don't know that I've ever been around that, so we're catching the ball effectively. Now in practice (Monday), we had several drops which I wasn't happy with."

As for the defense, Gundy said he saw an improvement during Monday's practice from the struggles they had in Saturday's scrimmage.

"Defensively, we have to do an overall better job of defending the passing game, just the concepts of being in the right areas in zone. They made some of those corrections in practice today," Gundy said.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
