PERRY, Okla. —
The Perkins-Tryon girls basketball team got the upperhand on Perry, rolling to a 49-31 victory over the Lady Maroons.
Even though they won, Jerry Burnett, coach for Perkins-Tryon, said his team could have played better.
“We didn’t shoot the ball well, but we played hard,” Burnett said.
Senior McKenzie Stanford led the team offensively with 15 points. Sophomore Bailey Wensler and senior Jordan Gorham also helped secure the win by each scoring 12 points.
P-T will head to the OBA tournament Thursday to play Newcastle.
Agra girls 53, Carney 19
AGRA — The Agra Bearcats lit up the scoreboard in a win over Carney.
Agra head coach, Jon Peveler, said his team handled their opponent well at the start and just kept building the lead.
“Everybody got a lot of playing time and a lot of rest,” Peveler said. “It’s good for the tournament coming up.”
Hannah Thompson scored double digits for the team with 12 points. Amber Austin and Allison Peterson were also leading scorers with seven points each.
The Lady Bearcats will play Yale in the Agra tournament next Thursday at 11 a.m.
Agra boys 71, Carney 38
AGRA — The Agra boys jumped to the lead in the first quarter, and kept that lead throughout the game.
The team was ahead by 23 points going into the second half. They then increased the lead to 33 points to finish the game.
Blake McEntire, Garrett Jones and Dalton James all lead the team in scoring. Among them they scored 38 of the teams points.
The Bearcats will play OCA at 8:20 a.m. Thursday in the Agra tournament.
In other action Tuesday, the Coyle boys basketball team crushed Copan in a 93-33 victory in the Frontier Tournament. The Perry boys got the best of Perkins-Tryon, sneaking past with a 41-37 win. The Mulhall-Orlando boys rolled to a 62-43 win over Deer Creek-Lamont in the Pond-Creek Tournament.
