MANNFORD, Okla. — The Cushing girls more than doubled their opponent’s score to beat Okmulgee 77-34.

The win secured the Lady Tigers a spot in the championship game at the Mannford Tournament. Senior forward Che’Ron Lewis led the team with 30 points. Mariah Burris and Shaunda Hagler put up 11 points each.

Cushing will play Piedmont for the championship at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Cushing head coach Brad Crace said Piedmont is a good team.

“It’s a contrast in style so it’s going to be a really good game,” Crace said.

Oklahoma Christian Academy 67 , Carney girls 35

AGRA — A number of injuries for Carney combined with a young team led to a loss against Oklahoma Christian Academy in the Agra Tournament.

Four girls are out with injuries, leaving six healthy players. Two are expected to return later this season from a broken thumb and an ankle sprain.

Carney head coach Connie Davis said the injuries effected her team’s performance.

“It was a decent ball game, but our injuries slowed us down,” Davis said.

Kaitlyn Bailey led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points.

Davis said the team needs to work on turning its offensive opportunities into points.

“We did a lot of things right and a lot of things wrong,” Davis said. “We don’t get our shots to fall like they should. We’ve been working on that.”

Carney will play Davenport on Tuesday night. Carney played Davenport in the second game of the season, but Davis said she expects her team to do better this time.

Pawnee boys 75, Davenport 27

OILTON — For the past few months, the Pawnee High School boys basketball team has been beating up on each other in practice.

Now they’re starting to beat up on their opponents.

A night after thumping Hominy 81-24, the Black Bears clinched a spot in Saturday’s championship of the Oilton Tournament with a 75-27 win over Davenport.

“We feel pretty good about ourselves right now,” Pawnee coach David Page said. “We are really athletic and we have a lot of kids that can score. We’re probably nine deep and they all played well.”

Senior Kyle Smith lead Pawnee (2-0) with 20 points. Freshman Gideon Gardner added 12 points, while Brandon Coltharp scored 11 points as the Black Bears raced out to a 30-8 advantage after the first quarter.

“It was pretty awesome,” Page said. “We scored 25 and 28 points in the first two quarters (against Hominy) so we have some guys that can score for us.”

Glencoe boys 78, Harding Charter Prep 49

LUTHER — The Glencoe Panthers will advance to the championship game of the Luther Tournament after defeating Harding Charter Prep.

Ty Lazenby led with 26 points. Jake Lazenby, Hunter Hall and Kagen Castlebury each put up double-digit numbers.

The Panthers are undefeated after seven games. The tournament championship game will be Saturday night. As of press time, their opponent was still to be determined between Luther and Oklahoma Christian School.

Perry boys 62, Christian Heritage Academy 54

DEL CITY— The Maroons held their own against Christian Heritage Academy and will play in the championship game.

After starting with a record of 0-2, head coach of the Maroons, Brandon Hight, said his team played with confidence and improved to 3-2. Shaheem Turner led the team with 17 points.

“The biggest thing going into the finals is hopefully we will get a lot of rest tonight,” Hight said.

The championship game will be at 8 p.m. Saturday against Southwest Covenant.

Agra girls 50, Shidler 44

AGRA — The Agra Bearcats had a close win over Shidler at their home tournament.

Junior Taylor Roe led with 20 points. Johannah Watkins and Hannah Thompson combined for 19 points.

The victory put the Lady Bearcats in the consolation game against Oklahoma Christian Academy. OCA took Agra out of the playoffs last year with a three-point win.

Agra head coach Jon Peveler said there are not many returners this year but the team still remembers that game.

In preparation for the consolation game, he said his team needs to cut down on turnovers.

“It’s not so much who we are playing but how we play ourselves,” Peveler said.

Agra boys 43, Cashion 32

AGRA— Agra defeated Cashion to advance to the championship game of its home tournament.

The Bearcats’ offense was led by Tyler Rossiter, who scored 13 points.

The win improves Agra to 4-3. The Bearcats will play for the championship at 8:30 p.m. Saturday against Yale.
