PERKINS, Okla. —
Perkins-Tryon put up the numbers needed to roll to a victory at their homecoming game against Prague, winning 47-16.
A fumble recovery early in the first quarter got them on the board, 7-0. The closest the game would be all night was 21-16 in the first half, but the Demon defense did not allow Prague to score again after that.
Jacob Bates had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, bringing the Demons (3-2) to a 28-16 lead going into halftime. A fumble at the 9-yard line only 6 minutes into the third quarter was a close call, but P-T got the ball back with a blocked punt.
Jacob Payton was Perkins-Tryon’s leading rusher with nine carries for 130 yards and a touchdown. Next week P-T will travel to faceoff against Bristow.
Hennessey 49, Perry 8
PERRY — The Perry Maroons (2-4) took a tough loss against Hennessey. Total offensive yards for the Marrons, 148, was far behind Hennessey’s 472.
One of the biggest plays of the game for Perry was an interception by Bryan Hatfield returned for a 30-yard touchdown.
Perry now has their focus on the rest of the season. They expect to win their remaining four games and finish the season with a 6-4 record to go to the playoffs.
Cushing 63, Henryetta 18
CUSHING — The Tigers played a strong game against Henryetta (2-4) both in the air and on the ground.
Gage Stallworth was a big contributor to the scoreboard with three touchdowns. He had 16 carries for 146 yards rushing. Cushing’s Bingham Hightower threw for 106 yards.
Friday, Cushing (5-1) will play on the road against Chandler (3-3).
Alva 55, Pawnee 3
PAWNEE — The Black Bears couldn’t measure up to Alva’s team. They only scored once with a field goal by Browning Nicolet in the second quarter.
Pawnee (1-5) trailed by 32 points at halftime,and couldn’t make a comeback in the second half. Alva succeeded in passing and carries for eight touchdowns throughout the game.
The Black Bears will go to Hennessey on Friday.
Carney 52, Timberlake 30
CARNEY — The Bulldogs need wins in the second half of the season to remain in contention for playoffs. On Thursday they got one 52-30 over the Tigers (2-4).
Carney coach Mark Davis said his team ran the ball well and were successful on defense.
“Our games came to play,” Davis said. “They executed and made the adjustments they needed to, to win.”
Carney (2-4) led at halftime 28-24, but outscored Timberlake 24-6 in the second half. Trevor Miller ran for a lot of yards. Davis said Justin Stephens did a phenomenal job blocking and running.
Coyle 56, Agra 6
LANGSTON — The Bluejackets continue rolling and posted a 56-6 victory over the visiting Bearcats.
“We played really well,” Coyle coach Shane Weathers said. “Agra made a couple costly turnovers and we took advantage.”
Coyle senior running back Fidel Simpson and junior quarterback Shane Weathers powered the offense with each gain over 100 yards rushing for the Bluejackets, who improved to 4-2 on the season.
The loss was Agra’s third straight after starting 3-0, being outscored 134-22 in its last three games. The Bluejackets still sit third in their district as Rejoice Christian’s results were unknown as of press time. South Coffeyville leads the district at 4-1.
