BREAKING NEWS: Oklahoma State and Boise State agree to home-and-home series

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State and Boise State have signed a contract to play a home-and-home football series, the two universities announced Friday.

The two-game set will begin Sept. 15, 2018, in Stillwater and conclude Sept. 18, 2021, in Boise. Those games will be the first ever between the two institutions.

“It’s a good nonconference matchup for both of us,” Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. “It gives us each a quality opponent out of conference play, which is ultimately going to factor in when we get to the four-team playoff.”

Oklahoma State and Boise State are among the two winningest football programs in the country since 2008. Over the last five seasons, Boise State has won 61games to tie for the most in the country and Oklahoma State has won 49 games, ninth most at the Football Bowl Subdivision level.

The 2018 game will be the first meeting between the two tradition-rich programs.

The Boise State series continues a recent trend of intersectional nonconference football games for Oklahoma State. The Cowboys open the 2013 season against Mississippi State in Reliant Stadium in Houston. OSU begins the 2014 season againt Florida State in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Oklahoma State recently completed home-and-home nonconference series with Washington State (2008 and 2010) and Georgia (2007 and 2009).

Boise State also recently announced home-and-home games with Virginia (2015 and 2017), Florida State (2019 and 2020) and Connecticut (2014 and 2018).

Both programs will earn $400,000 as the visiting team for making the trip according to a report by the Associated Press.
