Stillwater baseball drops finale against Bartlesville

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The Stillwater High School baseball team capped off the regular season with a 15-0 loss to Bartlesville Tuesday in Bartlesville.

“We played some guys who haven’t played a lot,” Stillwater coach Tony Holt said. “You never like getting your brains beat in and we’re certainly not happy about a 15-0 loss, but this was a chance to get some guys a little rest and give others a little playing time.”

Even with the loss, the Pioneers will still host regionals. Stillwater will open with Enid at 11 a.m. Thursday in a clash between two historic rivals. Enid beat Stillwater 11-6 in the Gladys Winters Tournament in Enid.

“Enid and Stillwater, that’s always a rivalry game,” Holt said. “Any time Enid and Stillwater play, there’s not very many runaways. Even if one teams better than the other, it doesn’t make any difference because it’s always a dogfight.”

The winner of the first round matchups will play at 3 p.m. while the losers will play at 5 p.m.
