Stillwater High sees success on second day of state track meet

Yukon, Okla. — Several Stillwater High School Pioneers and Lady Pioneers stood on the awards podium at the Class 6A state track meet Saturday.

Ty Smith finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.89 seconds, while Becca Worthy placed third in the pole vault after clearing 10 feet.

Senior Abbie Woods capped off her career by placing fifth in the 400-meter dash, recording a time of 1:00.62. Fellow senior Noah Gade took fifth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:28.20.

Stillwater’s relay teams also had success on the final day of state. The Lady Pioneers’ 1,600-meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 4:15.84, while the Pioneers’ 800-meter relay team finished in 1:30.95 for sixth place.

The Pioneers finished ninth with 28 points and the Lady Pioneers finished 12th with 15 points, as both teams exceeded the combined total of 14 points scored last year.
