KELLYVILLE, Okla — The Glencoe Panthers were only up by one point going into the second half but pulled away to an 80-63 win over Frontier.

The fourth quarter sealed the deal for Glencoe. The Panthers held the Mustangs to only four points and put up 29 of their own.

Glencoe coach John Lazenby gave Frontier credit.

“That Norman kid had 20 points at halftime and (Talon) Harris finished the game with 26,” Lazenby said. “Those were two outstanding performances. We’re tickled to get out with a win.”

Lazenby said his team was more selective with their shot selection in the second half.

“We weren’t sharing the ball well in the first half,” Lazenby said. “We had an eight- or nine-point lead in the first half but we took some bad shots and let them back in it.”

Glencoe advances in the Class A regionals to play the winner of Drummond and Strother at 8 p.m. Saturday in Kellyville. Frontier will play in the consolation game against Stonewall at 3 p.m. Friday in Kellyville.

Girls

Glencoe 57, Henryetta-Wilson 39

KELLYVILLE — The Lady Panthers pulled away in the third quarter to keep their season alive with a 59-39 victory over the Lady Tigers in the Class A regional consolation basketball tournament.

“We didn’t play very good and turned the ball over too much,” coach Stephen Castlebury said. “The bright side is we found a way to win.”

Glencoe held a 10-point lead at halftime and upped it to 25 after the third quarter. Kelsey Castlebury led the team in scoring with 16. The Lady Panthers will face Davenport at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Kellyville.

Macomb 53, Agra 29

MACOMB — The Lady Bearcats’ season came to an end with 53-29 loss to Macomb in the Class A regionals consolation game.

The Macomb defense held Agra to single-digit scores in the first three quarters. Agra put up 11 points in the fourth quarter. Holly Imry led the team with 8 points.

The Lady Bearcats’ finish their season 12-14 overall.

Coyle 73, Bluejacket 31

BEGGS — The Coyle Lady Bluejackets stayed alive in the Class B regionals with a 73-31 win over Bluejacket.

More than half of Coyle’s points came from Tyra Aska and Shilah Young. Both scored double digits. Aska led with 27 points and Young contributed 23.

Coyle (18-8) advances to the regional finals and will face Timberlake at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Beggs. The victory also secures the Lady Bluejackets a spot in next week’s area round.

Frontier 58, Olive 28

KELLYVILLE — The Lady Mustangs stayed alive with a 58-28 win over Olive in the Class A regionals.

Frontier coach Clay Stephens said Marissa Goodman was a top player. Goodman had 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Frontier will face Stonewall at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Kellyville in the regional finals.

Boys

Coyle 84, Cave Springs 51

BEGGS — Coyle jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter, defeating Cave Springs 84-51 and will continue its season in the Class B regionals.

The Bluejackets (21-4) sprinted to a 14-0 lead to start the game and led 24-5 going into the second quarter. Jakobi Brown led the team offensively with 26 points. Tony Aska added 20.

Coyle will move ahead to play Asher at 8 p.m. Saturday at Beggs in the regional finals.
