Oklahoma State plans "The 10" ceremony on Wednesday

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State University will remember and honor “The Ten” during halftime ceremonies of the Cowboys game with the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday — just one day shy of the 10th anniversary of the loss of 10 members of the OSU men’s basketball team and support staff in a plane crash in Colorado.

The men lost in the crash were Denver Mills, Nate Fleming, Dan Lawson, Jared Weiberg, Pat Noyes, Bill Teegins, Will Hancock, Brian Luinstra, Kendall Durfey and Bjorn Fahlstrom.

Former coach Eddie Sutton and former players Andre Williams, Desmond Mason and Doug Gottlieb will be part of the special halftime ceremonies.

The university has invited former student-athletes, athletic staff, coaches and student workers who were part of the 2000-2001 team or whose years in Stillwater overlapped that team.

Fans at the game will receive a comemorative T-shirt honoring those lost. The shirt will only be available at the game. It will not be sold at any time.

Oklahoma State also has planned a private gathering for family members of the 10 men before the game.

Thursday, Dr. David Bosserman, former OSU vice president of administration and finance, along with his executive assistant, Nancy Horner, OSU physical plant director Rick Krysiak and Lt. Leon Jones of OSU Public Safety, will visit the Colorado crash site. This group has visited the crash site on the anniversary date each of the past nine years.

Their visit will include some members of the Colorado emergency response teams from 2001.

The OSU Library Carillon will one again toll 10 times in honor of “The Ten” at 6:37 p.m. Thursday.
