CARNEY, Okla. —
One run was all the Ripley High School baseball team needed to beat Mulhall-Orlando in the Cimarron 7 Conference tournament Thursday.
In a classic pitcher’s duel with Mulhall-Orlando’s J.D. Cameron, Houston Twoguns (3-0) went 5.2 innings, striking out 13 as Ripley scored one run on one hit to beat the Panthers 1-0. Levi Morris finished the game, recording four strikeouts to pick up the save.
“We hit our spots well, but you have to credit (Cameron), he threw a bulldog of a game,” Ripley coach Donnie Hoffman said.
Ripley (10-4) broke through in the second, scoring its lone run of the game on a couple of Mulhall-Orlando errors.
The Warriors will face the winner between Davenport and Carney at 6 p.m. Friday in Carney.
