LEEDEY, OK —
A night after a heartbreaking 5-2 loss to Seminole in which the Ripley High School baseball team stranded plenty of runners, the Warriors didn’t have any problem coming up with the big hit during a 14-6 rout of Cheyenne Friday in consolation semifinals of the Leedey Tournament.
Griffin Gosney, Garret Gosney and Chandler Salinas provided plenty of pop, recording back-to-back-to-back doubles in the second inning to blow the game open.
“We came out before and worked on some things and had some good cuts in the cage,” Ripley coach Donnie Hoffman said. “It was good to see us have some success at the plate.”
Corey Sadler (1-1) picked up the win for the Warriors (6-3), striking out nine, but it was the offense that carried Ripley as Garret Gosney belted his first home run of the season and nine different Warriors recorded hits. Even freshman Kaimen Allender got in the act with a walk-off double to center.
Garret Gosney led the offensive attack going 2-for-2 with four RBIs and three runs, while Dillon Moore was 1-for-1 with two RBIs and three runs.
With the win, Ripley will play either Arnett or Vici in the consolation finals at 11 a.m. Saturday in Leedey.
