Stillwater Sports Minute: Former Oklahoma State star Andrea Riley comes home

STILLWATER, Okla. — Former Oklahoma State women's basketball star Andrea Riley has toured the world, playing basketball in countries as far away as Turkey.

Over the weekend, Riley's world tour made a stop in Stillwater as she helped cheer the Cowgirls to a 71-42 victory over No. 24 Iowa State Sunday in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

"It's good to have you back," Oklahoma State coach Jim Littell said to Riley during Saturday morning's practice.

Riley was able to catch both the men's blowout over Texas Tech and the women's thumping of Iowa State, but the trip wasn't completely relaxing. The Cowgirls all-time leading scorer laced up her sneakers Saturday as part of the scout team, in an effort to help the Cowgirls prepare for Iowa State.

It's been a while since Riley set foot on the court at Gallagher-Iba, but not a lot has changed since. Riley can still fill up the basket from anywhere and she's just as competitive as ever.

"They don't call that in the pros," Riley said after Littell whistled her for a foul during the workout.

The whistles may have been cheep Saturday morning, but the experience players like Liz Donohoe and Brittney Morgan gained going againt the former Tulsa Shock player will prove to be invaluable as the Cowgirls look to extend their conference winning streak to four games when they face Kansas State at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Manhattan, Kan.
