PRAGUE, Okla. —
Perkins-Tryon got its first district win Friday, using a second-half comeback to defeat Prague, 41-21, on the road.
The Demons (3-3,1-2) got off to a slow start, trailing Prague (0-6, 0-3)14-7 at halftime. Their only first-half score came on a 78-yard kick return in the first quarter.
P-T came out strong after halftime. The Demons scored 20 unanswered points in the third quarter. Two touchdowns in the fourth secured the victory.
Shelby Reese returned an interception 40 yards to score in the third. Matt Waitt had three touchdowns, including the first quarter kick return, for the Demons.
P-T plays Bristow Thursday.
Cushing 42, Henryetta 0
HENRYETTA — The Cushing Tigers defeated Henryetta Friday in a nondistrict game.
Gage Stallworth scored five touchdowns for Cushing (6-0, 2-0). Ian Jones connected with Jai Conley for a 75-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Sean Bozworth earned all of the Tigers’ extra points.
Stallworth had 18 carries for 192 yards. Kevin Beeler followed with six carries for 39.
A running clock was used in the second half of the game, and Cushing played most of its freshman.
The Tigers will travel to Chandler on Thursday.
Alva 44, Pawnee 20
ALVA — The Blackbears gave up a first-half lead in a loss to Alva.
Going into halftime Pawnee (2-4, 0-3) was up by a touchdown and held that lead until early in the fourth. Alva (4-2, 2-1) tied the game with a touchdown with 11:54 to play in the fourth and gained the lead with a 34-yard touchdown halfway through the fourth.
The Blackbears allowed 30 straight unanswered points in the fourth quarter and had three turnovers. Coach Marlon Houston said turnovers was their biggest problem.
“Turnovers are always a big deal,” Houston said. “Even when you fumble and get the ball back it still stops the drive. It’s very tough.”
The Blackbears return to action Thursday at home against Hennessey.
