3 p.m. Sports Minute: Gundy "happy" with another bye week

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State is back at it - another bye week, just one game after having had its first bye week.

It's not what many coaches, OSU's Mike Gundy included, would prefer. But you can't change what is already in motion - thanks to the Big 12 Conference's knack for scheduling.

"It's just like life. They gave us an open date, a game then an open date, so we tell our team that's the greatest that could ever happen and we'll take advantage of it and be better," Gundy said following the loss to Texas on Saturday. "So no, I think it's a great time to have an open date."

It's a similar set up to a year ago - just the teams have been flipped. Last season, OSU's first bye week came the week before the Kansas game, which was followed by its second bye week - leading to the Texas game. Oklahoma State will get two weeks to prepare for a 1-3 Kansas team with the kickoff being set for 2:30 p.m. in Lawrence, Kan. - and will be televised on Fox Sports Net.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
