Glencoe baseball falls in finals to Arnett

By Andrew Glover

WOODWARD, Okla. — The Glencoe Panthers had to win a thriller to reach the finals of the Woodward Baseball Classic on Friday. On Saturday, Glencoe lost a close game, 2-1 to the Arnett Wildcats.

“It was a good game, we just gave up a couple of unearned runs in the fifth inning,” Glencoe coach Tony Cazzelle said. “We only got three hits and they got four.”

J.K. Hadlock went the distance and took the loss. Hadlock walked two and struck out eight. Providing Glencoe’s offense were Hunter Hall with an RBI double. Jake Lazenby and Brice Williams also got hits.

“We had the opportunities to score,” Cazzelle said. “They just made plays.”

On Friday, Glencoe beat Hammon 6-5 in 10 innings. The Panthers trailed 4-0 after the first inning, with all the runs unearned. Glencoe scored three in third and one in the fifth and sixth to tie the game at five. In the 10th inning, Sean Smith scored on a single by Hadlock.

The Panthers (11-3) visit Shidler on Tuesday.
