Early miscues cost Lady Pioneers in loss to Westmoore

“The first time she threw me that pitch, I wasn’t ready for it,” Randolph said. “The second time she threw it, I was ready and took it where it was supposed to go.”

The Lady Pioneers weren’t able to get any closer as Westmoore scored at least one run in the last four innings — including two in the fourth and four in the top of the seventh. Randolph said they are still learning but is hopeful they will improve.

“(The younger players) have some maturing to do,” Randolph said. “But they will be better.”

Taylor Lane took the loss for Stillwater and pitched the whole game. Out of Westmoore’s 14 runs only eight were earned. She walked three and struck out none while hitting one batter and throwing two wild pitches. Larie Amos picked up with the win, only allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits, walked three and struck out six.

Saige Fluty led the Lady Pioneers at the plate with two hits including a double and an RBI. Whitmore led the Lady Jaguars as she went 3 for 4 and 4 RBI.

The Lady Pioneers host Sapulpa, who they beat 5-4 last month. Davis said it will be a big game.

“We’ve already beat them once,” Davis said. “They will be ready to play but so will we.”
